Cecarakan is an alternative script for writing Malay
or Indonesian invented by Ali Aulia Ghozali from Indonesia.
The name Cecarakan is based on the name of the Balinese
alphabet, Carakan.

The Cecarakan script is divided into three parts:
huruf utama (‘main letters’ or consonants),
huruf sandangan (‘attached letters’) and
tanda baca (‘punctuation marks’).

Notable features

  • Type of writing system: abugida
  • Direction of writing: left to right in horizontal lines
  • Used to write: Malay and Indonesian

Consonants (huruf utama)

There are 39 consonants. Each one has the inherent vowel
‘a’ (pronounced /a/). This inherent vowel can be modified by
the huruf sandangan.

Semua orang dilahirkan merdeka dan mempunyai martabat
