Michela de Julio founded MMW Traduzioni in Rome in 1995 and has been, since the same year, an official translator entered in the register of court experts of the Court of Rome. A legal consultant with degrees in law and in modern languages and a trainee lawyer, she combines in the same signature linguistic competence and knowledge of the law and of administrative procedures: she translates and swears documents, and handles the recognition of qualifications, the Dichiarazioni di valore, the legalisations and the EU Blue Card applications before the competent Italian authorities.

The path
Registration in the register of court experts of the Court of Rome, on 11 December 1995 under number 1404, and in the roll of experts of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome under number 2183, is the starting point of an activity that for thirty years has moved between the office in Viale Giulio Cesare, the clerk’s offices of the court, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Prefecture and the offices of the authorities that receive the translated documents. The double degree, in law and in modern languages, answers a daily observation of work on judicial and notarial documents: to translate a legal document well one must understand what the recipient will do with it.
From this double training comes the firm’s specialisation in the administrative procedures that follow the translation: the recognition of degrees and professional qualifications obtained abroad, academic equipollenza and equivalence for public competitions, Dichiarazioni di valore and CIMEA statements, the transcription in Italy of civil status records formed abroad, EU Blue Card applications for professionals who move to Italy. A journalist registered with the professional order since 2002, Michela de Julio writes regularly on these subjects in the Italian articles section of the site, with guides kept up to date with the rules and the practice of the offices.
Languages and fields
She translates in person from and into English, French and Spanish, including the Argentine variety, and from Serbian, Montenegrin and Amharic. The fields are those of the firm: judicial and notarial documents, civil status certificates, degrees and examination programmes, company documents and financial statements, medical documentation for administrative use, correspondence between authorities. For the other languages she coordinates a network of native translators selected over the years, rereading and signing what the firm swears, as described on the page on working languages.

Frequently asked questions
Does Michela de Julio translate and swear the documents personally?
For her working languages yes. For the other languages the translation is entrusted to a native translator of the firm’s network and is reread before the oath, which is taken by the person who translated.
Can I book a consultation on my own recognition case?
Yes, at the office by appointment or by video call. The consultation serves to establish the correct procedure for the client’s purpose and the documents to prepare. The arrangements are on the page on consultation and case handling.
What does a legal background mean for a translator?
It means recognising the nature of the document being translated, choosing the terms the Italian authority expects and knowing which formality will follow the translation. For the client it means a single contact for the official translation and for the consultation and handling of the file that follows it.
Where can I read what she writes?
In the articles section of the Italian site, with pieces on teachers’ rankings and public competitions, the Dichiarazione di valore, the transcription of records for citizens abroad and citizenship, and on her LinkedIn profile, where she comments on legislative developments in the recognition of qualifications.
