MMW Traduzioni is a firm of official translators founded in Rome in 1995 by Michela de Julio, registered since that year with the Court of Rome as a court expert translator. For thirty years we have translated and sworn documents that must produce effects before public bodies, courts, universities and notaries, in Italy and abroad, and handled the administrative procedures that depend on those documents: legalisation and apostille, recognition of degrees and professional qualifications, Dichiarazioni di valore, registration of foreign civil status records, visas and EU Blue Cards. Our clients abroad are private individuals applying for Italian citizenship or moving to Italy, professionals and companies relocating staff, law firms, universities and public bodies.

A history that begins at the Court
The firm was established in 1995 a few steps from the Civil Court of Rome, in the Prati district, where it is still based at Viale Giulio Cesare 71. The entry in the Court’s register of expert translators on 11 December of that year, with number 1404, and in the roll of experts of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, with number 2183, defined the nature of the work from the start: not translations of any kind, but translations for which someone answers before a public official. Over the years the clients’ needs took the firm beyond the oath. The person who translates a diploma knows what the university or the ministry will ask next, and learnt to follow the whole route. More than twenty-five thousand documents have passed through the office: birth and marriage certificates for citizenship and registry offices, degrees for universities and public competitions, judgments and powers of attorney for courts and notaries, accounts and company records for businesses, medical files, contracts, corporate deeds. The legal form is that of a limited company, MMW S.r.l., but the way of working has remained that of a professional practice: the person who receives the document is the one who translates it, swears it and answers for it.
The founder

Michela de Julio holds degrees in law and in modern languages, is a trainee lawyer and works as a legal consultant for the recognition of foreign qualifications before Italian universities and ministries. She has been an official translator registered with the Court of Rome since 1995 and an expert translator of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, is a qualified member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (MITI) and of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (MCIL) in the United Kingdom and a member of the Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs, and has been a registered journalist since 2002. She translates personally from and into English, French and Spanish, including Argentine Spanish, and from Serbian, Montenegrin and Amharic, and coordinates for the other languages a network of native translators selected over thirty years, reading and signing what the firm swears. She writes regularly, in Italian, on the recognition of foreign qualifications, public competitions, Italian citizenship and civil status, in the articles section of this site and on LinkedIn.
What we do
Official translations: sworn translations before the Court for documents used in Italy, certified translations for the countries that do not have the court oath, apostilles and legalisations at the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Prefecture, legal, technical and commercial translations for companies and professionals in some 180 languages. Administrative procedures: advice on and handling of the recognition of degrees and professional qualifications, academic equivalence and equivalence for public competitions, Dichiarazione di valore and CIMEA statements, registration of foreign civil status records, EU Blue Card and visas. We prepare the file, submit it and follow it to the decision, under power of attorney, so that clients abroad do not have to deal with the Italian offices themselves.
How we work with clients abroad
You send a scan of the document by email or on WhatsApp, with the name of the authority it is for. Within one working day you receive a written quote that states what is needed: whether a sworn translation is enough or an apostille is also required, whether the document must first be legalised in its country of origin, whether a Dichiarazione di valore or a CIMEA statement is needed for recognition. We translate, swear, legalise and file, and deliver the originals by courier to any country, with a scanned copy in advance. Every translation destined for the oath is read in full before it is sworn, and errors attributable to us are corrected at our expense. We do not publish a price list, because the price depends on the document, the language and the destination, but the quote is written, itemised and binding, and payment is made by bank transfer or by card online. Consultations are held in English, French, Spanish and Italian, in Rome by appointment or by video call.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work with clients who are not in Italy?
Most of our clients are abroad or have just arrived in Italy. Everything is handled by email, WhatsApp and video call, originals travel by courier, and we represent clients before the Italian offices under power of attorney.
Are you a translation agency or a law firm?
Neither in the usual sense. We are a firm of official translators directed by a legal consultant, which translates and swears documents and provides advice on and handling of the administrative procedures that follow. For matters that require a lawyer we work alongside the client’s lawyer in Italy or abroad.
In which languages can I correspond with you?
In English, French, Spanish and Italian directly with the founder. For other languages we reply in English or Italian and translate the documents through our network.
Where can I read your clients’ reviews?
On the public Google listing of MMW Traduzioni, where clients from Italy and abroad have left their assessments over the years. The link is in the footer of every page.
Do you have a document for Italy, or an Italian document for abroad?
Send us a scan and tell us which authority it is for: you receive a written quote within one working day, with the steps required and the timing.
