Rangtunga alphabet

The Rangtunga alphabet is an alternative script for English created by
Owen Edwards.

Notable features

  • Type of writing system: abjad
  • Direction of writing: left to right in horizontal lines
  • Used to write: English
  • Vowels are affixed to the consonants in a similar way to the vowels
in Hebrew, and have two forms: one for when the vowel follows the affixed
consonnant, and one for when the vowel precedes the affixed consonant.
  • The location of vowel diacritics is determined by two factors:
where they fit, and where they look best.
  • The space character is also used as a vowel holder when one letter
words, like ‘a’ or ‘I’, follow it. The space charcter is also used at the
end of sentences, except where the sentence is the last in the paragraph.
