Grand Alphabet of English, German and Russian
The Grand Alphabet was created by Matthew Whitaker in order to write
English, German and Russian. Matthew’s aim is to unify the alphabets
of these languages to enable speakers of each to read the others without
too much difficulty. He chose these languages because his native language
is English, he is studying German and is interested in Russian.
Notable features
- The letters correspond almost entirely to letters (or common combinations
like “th” and “sch”) in the three languages rather than sounds. - Anyone who knows one of these three languages can work out how to use
the alphabet to write that language, without any knowledge of the other two. - This alphabet can also be used to write ‘Germatik’, a language Matthew
is creating, based on German and English and Germanic roots.
