Emurhergen is an alternative alphabet for Tungusic / Manchu-Tungus languages
invented by Gary Yao in 2011. It is modelled on the Manchu alphabet,
and its name combines Emur, from the Emur river, near which most
speakers of Tungusic languages live, and the word hergen,
which means alphabet or script in Manchu.

  • Type of writing system: alphabet
  • Direction of writing: left to right in vertical columns running from top to bottom
  • Used to write: Tungusic languages such as Manchu, Evenki, Even and Nanai
